My tv screen just went black and within the following minute, it started smoking. WTH just happened?

Sounds like its toast. Probably an actual "bug" crawled in there and crossed some wires...while it got fried it fried your LCD. You could open it up and blow it out and plug it back in but for 20 bucks...you kinda got what you paid for.
