HATEM A- Country of Palestine?

If Palestine did not exist how come tens of thousands of Jews were able to find it in 1947 to form their own state ? Simple answer there are pre 1947 maps of Palestine.There has never been a state of Palestine but an area called Palestine has existed for hundreds of years
