Are my glo-fish mating (glo not gold)?

i have two glo fish one is small and slim and yellow ,one is bigger and red , i think the big red one is a female and the smaller one is the male. Well my red one chases the yellow one i don't know why (are they trying to mate) and the red one has this clear lon come out of it with sometimes red pebbles in it. is my red fish having eggs? and if so how often do glo fish mate? pleas people i need answers.
